About Bodegas Valdemar
Valdemar Family is a wine group owned by one of the most symbolic families in Rioja, dating back to 1889. Defined by its pioneering character.
This family winery has a background of over 130 years in the world of wine. The family’s passion has always started from the same place: the land and own vineyard. Ana and Jesús Martínez Bujanda, 5th generation, manage the group, safeguarding the know-how handed down generation after generation and reaching new, innovative milestones distinguishing the family.
Its origins are in the D.O.Ca. Rioja where Bodegas Valdemar is located. The 300 hectares of family vineyards allow the family to control each process, including the utmost care of the vine in search of the fruit’s authenticity, which translates into expressive and high-quality wines. Conde Valdemar, the flagship Rioja brand, is distributed in 65 countries and awarded internationally in the most prestigious wine competitions and by top industry journals and publications.
The pioneering gene that drove Jesús Martínez Bujanda to break the mold back in the 1980s by producing emblematic wines such as the first white wine fermented in barrels, and who later went on to launch the first Maturana and White Tempranillo varietal wines.
In the spring of 2019, Valdemar Estates, the family’s new winery located in Walla Walla Valley opened its doors, becoming the first European winery with a presence in this U.S. wine-growing region that produces a portfolio of Washington varietals, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Chardonnay.
We create authentic, personal wines that reflect the essence of the land.
