My Top 10 Wine Bars in Paris

On my recent trips through Paris, I have been compiling a list of the Top 10 Wine Bars there and wanted to share some information about them.  In addition to writing this post, I’ve also created a Google map of my Top 10 Wine Bars in Paris — if you’re in the city, feel free to use that as a handy reference as you travel around.

This list isn’t exhaustive, as there are hundreds of wine bars in Paris, but it’s a strong list of my favorites and places people generally agree offer outstanding experiences.

Before visiting be sure to check websites for open/closed dates and times, since they can vary (and some places are even closed on Sat/Sun).

In no particular order:

Septime La Cave
3 Rue Basfroi, 75011 Paris (11th arr.)
Google map)
+33 1 43 67 14 87

This is a sister location to the very popular Septime Restaurant.  Small and funky, with offbeat, largely natural wines and very light food.  Very cool vibe…

Willi’s Wine Bar imgres
13 Rue des Petits Champs, 75001 Paris (1st arr.)
(Google map)
+33 1 42 61 05 09

The legend, still going strong with excellent food and a great list of French classics as well as new and interesting selections.

Racines imgres
8 Passage des Panoramas, 75002 Paris (2nd arr.)
(Google map)
+33 1 40 13 06 41

The original, now with a Paris offshoot and a sister that’s the hottest wine bar in NYC. Outstanding, but be warned it’s not open Saturday or Sunday.

Ô Chateau  O Chateau
68 Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau, 75001 Paris (1st arr.)
(Google map)
+33 1 44 73 97 80

American-style wine bar, with several private rooms and lots of programming.  Frequented by lots of ex-pats and a business crowd.

Juveniles Juveniles Wine Bar
47 Rue de Richelieu, 75001 Paris (1st arr.)
(Google map)
+33 1 42 97 46 49

Great food and setting in one of Paris’ classic, original wine bars.

Le Verre Volé Le Verre Vole
67 Rue de Lancry, 75010 Paris (10th arr.)
(Google map)
+33 1 48 03 17 34

More of a bistro and wine shop than a wine “bar”; but cozy atmosphere and great food make this a special place.

Champagne Bar at Le Dokhan’s Hotel Champagne Bar at Le Dokhan's
117 Rue Lauriston, 75116 Paris (16th arr.)
(Google map)
+33 1 53 65 66 99

Arguably Paris’ oldest and best Champagne bar, in a classy sedate setting inside a top hotel

Fish La Boissonnerie  Fish La Boissonnerie(website unavailable)
69 Rue de Seine, 75006 Paris (6th arr.)
(Google map)
+33 1 43 54 34 69

Formerly a fish monger’s, owned by an American and a Kiwi with a British chef. Lively and fun.

Le Baron Rouge Le Baron Rouge
1 Rue Théophile Roussel, 75012 Paris (12th arr.)
(Google map)
+33 1 43 43 14 32

Very relaxed, convivial, hip place to get some wine, cheese, oysters. Great fun and a lively crowd…

Au Passage Au Passage
1bis Passage Saint-Sébastien, 75011 Paris (11th arr.)
(Google map)
+33 1 43 55 07 52

Super cozy neighborhood bar featuring natural wines and light food. Funky, cool, busy, a bit loud — great vibe.

So those are my choices. Feel free to share your feedback as well as any of your favorites in the comments. And I will hope to see you at one of these spots on my next visit to Paris!
