Rigour and Respect: extreme, constant and selective rigour in the vineyard is the only prerequisite for the creation of wines that are modern while remaining faithful to the territory; respect for tradition and for the Sangiovese grape.

About Castello di Radda

Castello di Radda represents the harmonious union of two forces: the historic hills of Chianti Classico and the agricultural expertise of Agricole Gussalli Beretta. Centered in Radda in Chianti, the winery honors centuries of viticultural heritage by transforming the territory’s most precious fruit into exceptional wines.

The philosophy balances reverence for tradition with thoughtful innovation. Castello di Radda prioritizes quality at every level—from their distinctive terroir to rigorous vineyard practices following organic principles. Their selection process, both in the vineyard and winery, ensures only the finest grapes reach the bottle, while technological advancements serve rather than override the natural rhythms of the vines.

The challenging yet rewarding landscape of Radda in Chianti features dramatic temperature fluctuations and stony soils, complemented by a warmer, steep vineyard in Gaiole in Chianti. Plantings focus primarily on Sangiovese, with smaller amounts of native Canaiolo and Merlot. Beginning in 2017, they completed a full organic conversion of all vineyards in 2020.

Their winemaking approach—gentle fermentations in stainless steel, parcel-by-parcel vinification, aging in medium to large oak barrels, and patient bottle maturation—yields wines of elegant intensity that faithfully express both terroir and vintage. At Castello di Radda, they cultivate not just vines but a passionate story rooted in respect for the land and those who tend it.
